World Day for Safety & Health at Work

Investing in Employee Safety

At Apleona, managing the safety of our employees and others is a fundamental part of how we do business. We have invested significant time and resources to support this commitment. Our Health & Safety (H&S) Management System is certified to ISO 45001, ensuring compliance with international standards. This certification is independently verified through external audits.

Structured Approach to Risk Management

Day to day, we operate a formal structured system that begins with hazard identification and risk assessment at the start of each contract. This allows us to implement effective control measures to reduce risks to an acceptable level, ensuring a safer work environment for all employees.

Life Saving Rules & Risk Awareness

Apleona has established 8 Life Saving Rules designed to protect employees. The first of these, “5 seconds for myself,” encourages employees to pause before starting any activity to reflect on the task ahead. In some instances, this is supported by dynamic risk assessment tools prompting employees to consider hazards, such as:

•Identifying significant risks associated with the task.

•Ensuring the area is safe for work.

•Confirming the availability of necessary PPE.

•Assessing whether assistance is required.

If a task cannot be carried out safely, employees are encouraged to stop and report the situation so that a safer alternative can be found.

Learning from Incidents & Continuous Improvement

While we strive to prevent accidents and harmful events, we recognise that learning from incidents is crucial. Employees are encouraged to report potential hazards and defects in their work area. To facilitate this, we have invested in an online tool that allows employees to report and record issues directly. All accidents and harmful events are thoroughly investigated by site managers and H&S professionals, ensuring corrective measures are implemented to prevent recurrence.

Employee Training & Development

From day one, we invest in comprehensive employee training to ensure tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. This includes:

•Site, task, and hazard-specific training tailored to individual roles and environments.

•Additional and refresher training as required.

•Management training to equip leaders with the skills to oversee workplace H&S requirements effectively.

Compliance & Best Practices

To maintain high standards of H&S compliance, Apleona Ireland has invested in legal update subscriptions and professional services, ensuring access to the latest industry information and best practices. Our commitment to compliance is further reinforced through:

•An in-house tool designed to support systematic safety assessments.

•A mandatory programme of Managers Site Safety Inspections for thorough site evaluations.

•Director Safety Walks providing independent oversight.

Oversight & Continuous Improvement

Our HSEQ Department oversees compliance through a schedule of formal system audits. Any deviations identified are recorded and addressed to maintain safety and regulatory adherence.

Through continuous investment, training, and structured oversight, Apleona Ireland remains committed to improving health and safety standards, ensuring the protection of employees and all those impacted by our work.
